In recent interviews with leather entrepreneurs, many highlighted both optimism and concern about the industry’s future. Business owners in the footwear and leather goods segments reported steady demand growth from Europe and North America, particularly for mid-range and affordable products.

However, they stressed that rising compliance requirements and environmental regulations are increasing production costs. Many manufacturers say they need stronger government support in upgrading infrastructure, especially waste management systems and industrial facilities.

Entrepreneurs also emphasized the need for better access to finance, design innovation, and branding support to compete in higher-value global markets.

Despite challenges, most interviewees believe Bangladesh’s leather industry has strong long-term potential if structural issues are addressed.
